The problem with the EU
Ridiculous aren't they? I am really starting to believe no one, not even the so-called Eurocrats, have any idea what the EU is. The truth is, that both sides have a point. The EU is essentially a liberal free trade area (though already in place! The EuroConstitution doesn't change this in any way whatsoever) and the EU also gives socialistic subsidies to farmers.
Historians will probably look to this time in Europe as that of simply confusion as to what exactly people are being asked. The EU will probably progress better if the people are asked questions on specific issues, like the Euro, the Common Market or Schengen (recently approved by Switzerland) rather than on a legalistic document which is little more than a judicial tidying up.
